Cheese Toast with Pears Recipe

Recipe Type: Brunch & Breakfast, Pears, Cheddar Cheese
Yields: serves many
Prep time: 15 min
Cook time: 10 min

Ingredient:

Slices of artesian sour dough bread with Jalapeno*
Slices of English Coastal cheddar cheese or sharp cheddar cheese
Aleppo pepper flakes**
Red pears (such as Anjou or Bartlett), sliced

* You could substitute regular sour dough bread if you can’t find Jalapeno sour dough bread.

** Aleppo Pepper - A Turkish crushed chili has an ancho-like flavor with a little more heat and tartness (medium level of heat, sweet, fruity, complex with hints of Cumin). Also Known as Halaby Pepper. If you can’t this pepper, replace with the regular crushed red peppers.

Preparation:

Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the bread slices in the hot pan and toast lightly on one side.

Flip the bread over, place the cheese slices on top of the toasted side, sprinkle with Aleppo red pepper flakes, put lid on pan, and let cook until the cheese is barely melted.

Meanwhile, slice red pears. Place all on a plate and enjoy.

Serves many.
