I make every attempt to remain anonymous while reviewing each restaurant.  All meals are paid for by myself.  This way, I can report the most honest and trustworthy restaurant reviews possible. Other recognizable critics frequently get special food and service. I forgo any perks so that my restaurant experience will be similar to yours.

Highly acclaimed chef Thomas Keller (of The French Laundry) is co-owner and behind this beautiful Yountville restaurant. Bouchon is a comfortable and cozy restaurant. Much different than the French Laundry restaurant that is just down the street. The tables are packed rather closely together, so you feel almost like you are dining with the next table. The restaurant can get rather noisy at times.

Shown below are a few of the restaurant favorites that our group tried:

Pommes Frites (French fries). - $4.75
The delicate Pommes Frites are the best around,
which come in a tin vase lined with a paper cone, are the absolute best French fries you can eat! These wonderful fries are served as an amuse bouche to diners.

Nonats Fries - Small whitebait fish battered and deep fried, served with lemon aioli.

If you didn't know better, you would think these are French fries with a slight fishy taste.  The little black specks are not pepper, but the eyes of the small whitebait fish. These were actually good!  My husband first tasted this whitebait delicacy on our honeymoon in New Zealand many years ago. Only then, they were cooked in an omelet.

Huitres (1/2 dozen oysters) - $15.00
Another favorite is the 1/2 dozen fresh oysters. You will definitely be in oyster heaven.

Terrine de Foie Gras de Canard with toasted baguette (5 oz.) - $45.00
This foie gras was fantastic and so buttery smooth - just sublime. You are served a very generous 5-ounce French canning jar serving with toasted baguette.

Gigot d'Agneau- Roasted leg of lamb with a ragout of coco beans, piquillo peppers, merguez sausage, lamb jus. $25.50.
Excellent lamb ragout. They also served a side of wonderful polenta.
