This old fashioned Hillsboro Pharmacy and Fountain is truly a "hidden jewel” in the western Washington County area that is located in the the city of Hillsboro. It is one of the few places where you can still get old-fashioned thick milkshakes, ice cream sodas, and malts, plus have the people who work there remember your name. Most of their customers seem to be regulars.

The soda fountain has been a popular gathering place since the late 1800’s, and it’s still a great place to stop for a tasty meal, a quick snack, or a frosty shake. The fountain is decorated with old Coca-Cola memorabilia. The pharmacy was founded in 1873 by Dr. Frank A. Bailey (1839-1920), a Union Army doctor, and who later became mayor of Hillsboro in 1896.

The Hillsboro Pharmacy offers old-fashioned service combined with up-to-date medications and merchandise for every need and budget. Not only is it a great place to get your prescriptions filled, it’s also a great place to shop for unique gifts and greeting cards.

My husband and I like to stop in for breakfast whenever we can. The food is always good! I especially enjoy being able to have their old-fashioned milkshakes. So good!  It is definitely a gathering place for a lot of locals. You can eat great food and enjoy the talk around the fountain bar.
