Overall Review: The food was just average, but
nothing to write home about. I will not be in a hurry to
return. The wait staff was accommodating and polite.

Our
friends, Stan and Laurie, joined us on our Friday date night. Since
Stan is vegetarian, we decided on a restaurant where we would have a
large selection of seafood. McCormick's Fish House and Bar in
Beaverton seemed to fit the bill. It was a beautiful Fall
evening and a pleasure to be out and about.
We had
reservations and were seated almost immediately. The first thing you
encounter when being seated are that the booths are very tight and
uncomfortable. The economy class sitting on some airlines is better
than these booths. If you are a little overweight, ask for a table!
Stan and Laurie ordered a bottle of wine, and Don and I order Beef
Eater Martinis.
The menu
sounded great as twenty-four (24) different types of fresh seafood
and fish were featured on their menu that evening.
Dishes
we ordered with diner's comments:
Appetizers:
(We like to share appetizers)
Dungeness Crab and Bay Shrimp Cakes ($10.95) - Good
Baked Brie with Roasted Garlic, Peppers and Herb Focaccia
($8.50) - Average
Main Dishes:
Calamari Steak Picatta with mashed potatoes, capers, and
garden vegetables ($17.95) - Good
Keta Salmon stuffed with crab, bay shrimp, dill and brie cheese
($22.80) - Couldn't taste any crab in the stuffing and the sauce
overwhelmed the salmon - Average, not great.
Blackened Yellowfin "Ahi" Tuna ($22.80) - Very good, the best
dish ordered for the evening.
Pan-fried Willapa Bay Oysters ($18.95) - Over cooked and tough.
Very disappointing as I love properly cooked oysters.
Desserts:
(We like to share desserts)
Creme Brulee - Crust on top (caramelized sugar) of the creme brulee was too hard. Tasted like it had been torched several
hours or even days before. I'm a believer that that sugar
should be caramelized just before serving. Very disappointing -
I can make a far superior creme brulee at home.
