I make every attempt to remain anonymous while reviewing each restaurant.  All meals are paid for by myself.  This way, I can report the most honest and trustworthy restaurant reviews possible. Other recognizable critics frequently get special food and service. I forgo any perks so that my restaurant experience will be similar to yours.

Located in the Willamette Valley wine county, this of one of the favorite stopping places after a wine tour. This is a family-run restaurant with a wife-and-husband-chef team of owners/Chefs Richard and Nancy Gherts. Housed in a charming 1920s craftsman bungalow. The dining room is divided in to parts. At one end, the former living room, you find a cozy fireplace. The west side of the dining room, appropriately the former dining room, houses built in china cabinets.

Entrée's are well prepared and artistically plated. The menu is changed according to the season and regional availability of foods. My husband and I have dined there many times since they opened in 1992. It continues to be one of our favorite restaurants in the Willamette Valley wine area, as the food is always great!

Dishes we ordered with comments:

Appetizers:

Soup du Jour - Potato soup with chicken stock base with cabbage, apples, and mushrooms. $7.00

This was absolutely delicious! I wondered how the cabbage would meld with the apples, and it worked!

Entrees:

Strawberry Mountain Short Ribs of Beef Braised in Pinot Noir served with Creamy Polenta (All entrées come with a salad of mixed organic greens.) $28.00

My husband was very pleased with this dish.  The beef ribs were fork tender and very tasty.

Desserts:
The dessert menu included three baked desserts and five different home made ice creams, all priced at $7.00 each.

Home Made Lavender Ice Cream. $7.00
We like to share dessert. Since we both had ordered heavier main dishes, we opted for some ice cream. This ice cream was delicious with a hint of lavender. The presentation included a shortbread star and solid chocolate squiggles. Perfectly done!
