Overall Review:  The restaurant is trying to be a high-end Portland restaurant, but it is missing the mark. The presentations of the food were done well, but the end result (taste) was a let down with the main entrees. The best dishes were the appetizers.

Overall, we were very disappointed in our dining experience at the Ten 01. I am not in a hurry to dine there anytime soon.

A very striking contemporary-style restaurant with the ceiling and windows soaring three floors. The ambiance inside is very contemporary. There is also upstairs dining with booths and nice views. The restaurant also includes an oyster bar. Overall, it is a very impressive-looking restaurant.

My husband and I were seated downstairs by the open kitchen. Our service throughout the meal started off good, but declined as the meal progressed.

What we ordered with comments:

Amuse Bouche:

Smoked salmon canapé with trout roe.

This was good.

Appetizers:

Oyster on the Half Shell, apple-pink peppercorn mignonette - each $2.50, half dozen $14.00, dozen $26.00

The raw oysters were excellent! My husband loved them.

Celery Root Soup, chanterelles, foie gras mousse, tarragon oil - $12.0

The was also excellent! I wanted to lick the bowl clean.

Entrees:

Pan Roasted Sea Scallops, house-made Spanish chorizo, fennel puree, marcona almonds, brussel sprouts - $26.00

My husband was very disappointed with this dish. He found it to be very bland and not very tasty. The presentation was beautiful!

Seared Rare Ahi Tuna and Sonoma Foie Gras, grilled swiss chard, green peppercorn sauce, sauteed foie gras - $30.00

The combination of foods in this dish, just didn't work for me. It was just too rich! In fact, it upset my stomach! I normally love Ahi Tuna and also Foie Gras, but not in this dish.

Dessert:

Crème fraîche panna cotta - $8.00

This was their panna cotta nightly special. It was ok, but nothing special. I decided on this dessert to help settle my stomach.
