Avocado Shake is so subtle and very addictive – I love avocados! Like most Americans, I had only used them in savory dishes, and a shake made with avocados sounded bizarre to me. In Asia and also Brazil, avocado shakes are very popular. In Brazil, this shake is usually served with chocolate syrup adorning the sides of the glass.
As avocados are a fruit and not a vegetable, this combination makes perfect sense. The creaminess of the avocado blends so perfectly with the sweetened condensed milk in this recipe. The avocado’s creaminess is enough to make this as rich and creamy as any other milkshake, but healthier.
The fun thing about this Avocado Shake Recipe – no ice cream. Imagine, a milkshake with no ice cream. I lightened up the recipe for less calories. It is so good – I am not exaggerating when I say that it tastes super good! Learn how easy it is to make this fantastic avocado shake.
- 1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted*
- 2 cups ice (16 to 20 ice cubes)
- 1/2 cup condensed milk, fat-free and sweetened**
- 1/2 to 1 cup non-fat milk, cold***
Cut avocado in half. Scoop out the avocado flesh into a blender.
Add the ice cubes, condensed milk, the least amount of non-fat milk; puree until completely smooth. Taste and add additional milk if a thinner consistency is desired. NOTE: I like to use the maximum amount of milk.
Pour into two (2) tall glasses and enjoy!
Makes 2 servings.
* The best avocados to use are those that gently yield to pressure and are free from dark blotches inside the fruit.
** You could substitute any kind of milk you desire, such as coconut milk, almond milk, etc.
*** The size of the avocado used will affect how much milk and sugar you need to achieve your preferred consistency and sweetness.
