Banana Boat S’Mores Recipe
Campfire Banana Boats are another favorite special childhood treat that should bring back pleasant memories. Campfire Banana Boats are like S’mores, but made with bananas. These Banana Boats are so gooey, yummy, and so satisfying! They are the perfect outdoor summer dessert. Add to the deliciousness, there are no dishes or clean up – and that is my kind of food. My family likes to cook them over the campfire, but you could also cook them in your oven or on your barbecue.
Camping is always fun. I remember, after all the dishes were done, out would come the ingredients for these delicious Banana Boats. The children were set to work at toasting the marshmallows while the favorite toppings were put out. All you need is a campfire, bananas, some aluminum foil, and whatever sweet or savory toppings you choose to stuff your bananas. Our family likes them made with graham crackers, chocolate chips, marshmallow, nuts, and coconut. Remember, the variations are only limited by your imagination – so go for it!
Campfire Banana Boats:
Campfire Banana Boats - Banana Boat S'Mores Recipe
1 ripe banana per serving
Hershey's plain milk chocolate bars, broken into pieces or semi-sweet chocolate chips
Mini marshmallows or regular marshmallows (If using large marshmallows, cut them in 1/2's)
Nuts of your choice
For each serving:
Cut a slit in your banana peel and banana, the long way (lengthwise), keeping the peel attached on the other end (leave approximately 1/2-inch on both sides of the banana). Do not take the banana skin off.
Fill the banana with marshmallows and chocolate pieces. Add any Optional Ingredients that you may choose.
Replace the peel back around the banana. Tightly wrap the entire banana (individually) in a double layer or heavy-duty aluminum foil.
Either place the foil-wrapped bananas on the hot coals of your campfire or on the grill of your barbecue for approximately 8 to 10 minutes or until the chocolate and marshmallows are melted.
Once cooked, remove from fire coals or grill (be careful as they will be hot - wear oven mitts or use long-handled tongs), grab a spoon, and enjoy your treat!
