Pomegranata Martini

Ice cubes
1 1/2 cups fresh pomegranate juice (see recipe below for making juice if you can't find it at your local store)*
2 ounces Absolute Citron Vodka or white tequila
1 ounce Cointreau Liquor
Splash of sparkling water
Squeeze of lemon
Superfine sugar for dipping
Pomegranate seeds, garnish (optional)

* Pomegranate juice may be purchased at most up-scale grocery stores.

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Place pomegranate juice, vodka, Cointreau, sparkling water, and lemon juice; shake, Pour strained liquor into sugar-rimmed martini glass. Garnish each with some pomegranate seeds.

NOTE: To create a sugar-rimmed glass, take a lemon or lime wedge and rub the drinking surface of the glass so it is barely moist. Dip the edge of the glass in the sugar.

Makes 2 serving.

Pomegranate Juice:
To make Pomegranate Juice, cut a ripe medium-sized pomegranate in half and squeeze with any conventional juicer or press. If necessary,
strain the juice through a mesh strainer. Each Pomegranate should yield about 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of juice.
