Microwave Chocolate Chip Cookies in a Mug Recipe

Chocolate Chip Cookies In A Mug

If you like chocolate chip cookies like I do, you will definitely enjoy these quick fix Chocolate Chip Cookies In a Mug that you can cook in just 1 minute in your microwave.  These cookies are perfect when you do not want to take the time to make a whole batch of cookies but want a cookie.

I have checked out other internet recipes for mug cookies, but they are missing some important steps and one very important ingredient!

First – you have to remember the basic rules of baking and mix your wet ingredients together before adding in the dry ingredients.

Second – none of the recipes include baking soda which is needed to help the cookie rise

I have also learned that you should not microwave the cookie for more than 1 minute or the cookie will be very crumbly, burnt on the inside, and be as a rock when cooled.

When these chocolate chip cookies in a mug are done cooking in the microwave, the cookie should be a cross between a cake and cookie texture.  Using these recipes below, your cookies will be as delicious as you would hope to provide that sweet fix you’re craving.  They only take 1 minutes, but they taste like the real thing

Total Time: 6 minutes

Yield: 1 large cookie

1 tablespoon of butter
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 tablespoon firmly-packed brown sugar
3 drops (half capful) pure vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

In ramekin or mug, add butter and soften in microwave for 10 to 15 seconds.  Using a different size and/or type of cups of ramekins may affect cooking time.

Add sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk; mix together with fork.

Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.  Texture should be consistency you would expect for cookie dough.  Stir in the chocolate chips.

Place in microwave and cook at high heat for 40 to 60 seconds.  Start checking for doneness at 40 seconds.  Do not go over 60 seconds or cookie will burn and get rock hard!

Best served warm.  Enjoy!

Disappointed, would not make this again. It had way too much salt. With the first taste I thought I had not mixed it well enough, but after several bites I realize that the whole cookie was tasting like salt. If you make it I would recommend a pinch of salt not 1/8 teaspoon!

Sorry your results turned out salty. 1/8 was the closest measurement to a “pinch” but it does go slightly over. I have changed the instructions to “1 pinch of salt”. Thanks for the feedback.

This is very good! Made the chocolate chip one exactly as written! Cooked in a mug for 50 seconds. Satisfied the sweet tooth without having to tempt myself with a whole batch of cookies lol. Thanks for posting!

I put it in the microwave for 40 seconds and it was extremely hard and my mug is the exact same as in the picture.

I have encountered some newer microwave models that seem to cook faster. I would suggest to adjust the cooking time for your microwave to 30 seconds and check to see if the dough is done.

I just made this for dessert tonight. It was delicious! I substituted 1/8 cup cacao nibs for the chocolate chips and it was really chocolaty and not too sweet!! Next time, I’ll just do the chocolate chips, but I wanted to try the nibs. I think the mixing method (wet ingredients then dry ingredients) really helped the texture.

Not relevant to this recipe but will it still work if I used store bought cookie dough?

Made these for my kids tonight. They loved them! I didn’t partake due to trying to eat healthier but they smelled just like oven baked chocolate chip cookies. This just went on my favorites list!

I think it was perfect. I’m having a hard time imagining how many people are saying they didn’t turn out. I’ve made it twice and each time is perfect.
