Questions and Answers – What are Romano Beans?
I have a recipe which includes Romano beans, but I am not sure what they are. Have you heard of them and if so, are they known by another name? Any help would be appreciated. – Brian Johnston (2/12/02)
Romano beans (a.k.a. Italian String Beans) are really just a different variety of snap bean, and are grown and eaten the same way. They are a Broad flat-podded green snap beans with flat 5- to 6-inch pods are often also called Italian Pole and varieties include Roma, Greencrop, and Bush Romano.
NOTE: You can substitute any type of green beans f in your recipe.
